Children and Adolescent Outpatient Services (Ages 10-17)

Monday through Friday, three days of your choice, 4:30pm – 7:30pm

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a specialized outpatient program for children and teens that provides comprehensive evaluation and intensive psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents between the ages of 10-17 years old. Our outpatient format is conveniently scheduled after school to fit around academic responsibilities, which helps the child or teen keep a routine schedule.

Our intensive outpatient program for children and teens is an intermediate level of care for patients who do not meet criteria for inpatient hospitalization yet require more intensive services than traditional outpatient therapy.

Support groups at our treatment center, such as group therapy, are a core component of our treatment process, utilizing a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy model. Together, these groups teach patients how to manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviors while teaching personal interaction with others in different environments.

Our adolescent outpatient mental health treatment services are individually tailored to provide a coordinated, intensive and comprehensive treatment plan for the patient. From psychiatric assessments and evaluations to groups led by licensed clinicians along with discharge planning and follow-up care, we walk with you every step of the way.

The treatment team at our outpatient center located in Carson, California, works with the patient and family members to develop a treatment plan for your child that takes into account their particular needs, as well as all of their own unique strengths and abilities.

General program goals for our outpatient program for children and teens include reduction or elimination of self-harm behaviors, improved use of coping skills, and decreased need for hospitalization.

What is an IOP?

A mental health intensive outpatient program is typically a part-time treatment program, meeting for a few hours a day for a few days per week. While not as structured as inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment provides many of the same types of therapies and treatment for mental illness in a much more adaptable setting.

Why Choose Children or Adolescent IOP Treatment?

An intensive outpatient program for children and teens provides mental health outpatient treatment that understands children and adolescents, and what unique challenges they face. The staff understands how to help each child or teen build on strengths to start feeling better, sooner.

Our children and adolescent outpatient program at Del Amo Behavioral Health System takes into account the individual’s needs, and we’re more than ready to take care of your loved one.
